Quest for Life 2025 Impact Report
Every year, thousands of Australians navigate grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, life-changing illness and burnout — often searching for practical support and a way forward. For almost four decades, the Quest for Life Foundation has supported individuals experiencing some of life’s most difficult circumstances.
How Healing Happens: The Quest Approach
At Quest for Life, our evidence-based, holistic residential programs, workshops and community education provide self-determined pathways to recovery. We offer a transformative healing experience that integrates practical strategies with professional, compassionate support. In a nurturing environment that respects and values each participant, we honour every story and empower people to move forward with strength and hope.
Change That Lasts
Quest programs help participants build the practical skills and confidence needed to navigate life’s challenges well beyond the program experience. Participant wellbeing is measured using the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10) — a widely recognised tool used to assess psychological distress.

Results (above) show clear and sustained improvements, with participants experiencing meaningful reductions in distress after the program, and continued improvement over time. Additionally, after attending a Quest program:

Why People Turn to Quest for Life
Participants arrive at Quest during times of profound life challenge. Many participants experience trauma, illness, grief or prolonged stress that affects how they think, feel, sleep and relate to others — often eroding confidence, emotional stability and hope, and requiring structured support to recover.

Quest programs provide a trauma-informed environment where participants can learn practical strategies to manage thoughts, regulate emotions and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and resilience.
By strengthening coping capacity and emotional resilience, Quest for Life programs help individuals manage life’s challenges more effectively and reduce the likelihood of distress escalating to crisis.
In this way, our programs contribute to a preventative layer of support within Australia’s mental health system — helping to reduce pressure on acute and crisis services.
By equipping participants with practical tools for long-term wellbeing, we create pathways to stability that benefit both individuals and the broader community.
“Quest has been a saviour for me. Each time I have attended it has been an amazing stepping stone toward becoming my authentic self. I feel more confident to move forward with peace and hope. Let the healing begin!” - Sam, past Quest program participant
People Finding Their Way to Quest
Quest for Life supports people from communities across Australia. This broad reach reflects the importance of accessible recovery programs for individuals in both urban and regional communities.

Real Changes in Everyday Life
Beyond improvements in psychological distress, Quest participants report meaningful changes in how they approach daily life, including greater confidence, self-awareness and more constructive responses to challenges. The focus is not only on recovery, but on building the skills and resilience needed for long-term wellbeing. Healing does not end when participants leave Quest. Through online meditation groups, livestream sessions, courses, social media and community events, we continue to support thousands on their ongoing wellbeing journey.
“When I arrived at Quest, I felt completely overwhelmed and exhausted. I didn’t know how to move forward. I learned practical tools that helped me calm my mind and respond differently to stress. The experience changed how I approach life. For the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful.” - Chris, past Quest program participant
The Ripple Effect of Recovery
When a person experiences meaningful improvements in mental wellbeing, the benefits often extend beyond the individual: strengthening families, rebuilding social connection, and supporting community wellbeing. In this way, each participant’s recovery contributes to stronger, more connected communities.

Our Role in Australia's Mental Health Ecosystem
Mental health support in Australia spans clinical care, crisis services and community-based recovery programs. Quest for Life plays a unique role within this ecosystem, working alongside a broad network of organisations including the NDIS, Suicide Prevention Australia, workplace and insurance providers, Cancer Wellness, Wellways and others.
Our programs complement clinical care by focusing on education, emotional resilience, practical coping strategies and community connection. By helping individuals rebuild coping capacity and emotional stability, Quest contributes to long-term wellbeing and suicide prevention.

Supporting Communities in Times of Crisis
Quest for Life also responds during periods of community trauma and disruption. Our teams have supported communities affected by:
• Natural disaster recovery
• Rural and regional resilience support
• Online wellbeing support during the COVID-19 pandemic
We provide trauma-informed support when communities need it most.
Looking Ahead
With an effective program model, strong partnerships and nearly four decades of experience, Quest continues helping people build resilience, restore hope and move forward after life’s most difficult challenges. The generosity of donors, partners and supporters makes this work possible by helping thousands of individuals each year find the strength, tools and community they need to rebuild their lives.
Together, we are creating meaningful pathways to healing and empowering people to move forward with greater strength and hope.
