Judy King is a highly experienced art psychotherapist and registered nurse with over 30 years in healthcare and nearly two decades in art therapy. She holds a Master of Art Therapy and combines her deep understanding of psychological principles with the healing power of creative expression to support people through emotional and physical challenges.
Judy’s professional background includes counselling families around organ donation and end-of-life decisions in intensive care and emergency settings in Australia and abroad. She has facilitated expressive art therapy groups for adults living with chronic pain and palliative care, and worked for many years in community mental health, giving her a strong understanding of the medical system and the intersection between physical and emotional wellbeing.
She has also worked extensively with children at end-of-life and their families at Bear Cottage Children’s Hospice, providing compassionate, trauma-informed care. Judy’s dual expertise in nursing and art psychotherapy enables her to bring a uniquely holistic and deeply empathic approach to her practice.
In addition to her therapeutic work, Judy is an art therapy educator at Western Sydney University, mentoring final-year Master of Art Therapy students. She also maintains a private clinical supervision practice for emerging therapists and facilitates online art psychotherapy sessions.
Judy is passionate about nurturing both health and creativity. Outside her professional life, she enjoys Pilates, yoga, cycling, singing, and long walks with her black Labrador therapy dog, Alice.
