TEAM

Tamika Dwight-Scott

Tamika is a qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Resource Therapist, Hypnotherapist, Supervisor and Group Facilitator, with many years’ experience in supporting survivors of childhood abuse, trauma, grief and loss, hardship and illness. She therefore recognises and fully comprehends the complexities that stem from such life challenges and how these can be overcome.

Tamika has worked on many Quest programs in the role of counsellor and facilitator, offering her passion, experience and commitment to the Quest philosophies and principles.

Gestalt therapy is based on the therapist and the client building trust and working together to build self-awareness of core self-limiting beliefs. By focusing on feelings and sensations in the body, the client is able to become aware of patterns of behaviour, underlying belief systems and how past events can prevent them from living fully in the here and now. Using techniques such as mindfulness and awareness exercises, role play, somatic or body work, art therapy and guided visualisations, healing and connection occurs between the mind, body and emotions.

Tamika specialises in working with anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, anger issues, trauma, addictions, eating disorders and relationship counselling.

Tamika has previously worked on faculty with Hypnotherapy Training Australia (HTA) where she taught Gestalt Psychotherapy and Counselling to students. Nowadays, Tamika has moved more towards focusing on building her retreat business, facilitating retreats both here in Australia and in Bali.

Tamika lives on the Central Coast with her partner, Stuart, her rescue dog, Bonnie and her horse, Puddems. She has adult children and 4 very precious grandchildren. Tamika loves to travel, with India being her favourite place to explore. Her ability to continue to support people through challenging times comes back to her ability to stay present with daily practices of meditation, being at one with nature and possessing a good sense of humour.
